ERROL BROWN’S CHILDREN IN NEED AT CHRISTMAS CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT

Dear Yank

The committee and I thank you all for your wonderful support and generosity in a year where due to the impact of the hurricane on these Islands , many charitable pockets were stretched to the limit.

Thanks also to the Honourable Melanie Griffin who took time out of her busy schedule to present the prizes and to the president of the BGF Neville Adderley for his and the BGFs support of the tournament.

Golfers brought over two hundred gifts to the event held on the 18th of December, which lit up the faces of children from the Nazareth Centre, The Binley Lane Home, The Children’s Ward at the Princess Margaret Hospital, The Elizabeth Estate, The All Saints Aids Camp and the Children’s Emergency Hostel.

We are pleased to announce that $42,000 has been raised to go directly to the "Children In Need".

The committee has decided that cheques should not just be handed over to the various homes but that we would ask the homes to itemise their specific needs to ensure accountability and that the funds go directly to children in need and not get lost in administration  costs.

For instance, we have spoken to the Nazareth Centre and we’ll be supplying them with a new air conditioning unit for  the baby quarters.  The Elizabeth Estate are desperate for computers for their displaced children who are trying to better themselves and we will be helping with that.  The All Saints Aids Camp need clothing and school uniforms for there children along with materials to finish one of their homes that two families are awaiting admission to.

Help will be given to the Aids foundation of the Bahamas for the children in need of clothing, school uniforms and basic groceries.

The Binley Lane home needs a large stove and a swing which we will be providing.

The Children’s ward of the Princess Margaret Hospital urgently need a Dinamap machine to record vital signs and a Pulse Oximeter to check for oxygen saturation in very sick children, the committee will decide depending on the cost to help with one or both of these items.

The Grand Bahama Children’s Home have asked for thirty blankets and four bicycles which we will be providing.

Congratulations to the winners of the event Andrew Burrows and Eddie Carter who will make the trip to Jamaica to play the fabulous White Witch golf course and take up residence at the Ritz Carlton in Montego Bay .  No, we are not envious are we lads???

This year’s event will take place on Saturday the 17th of December at the Cable Beach Golf Course and we are hoping for your continuing support.

Once again thank you  for the part you played in making this an enjoyable and successful tournament.

Errol Brown (Patron)
